NextGen Advisor, LLC is a leading provider of comprehensive, objective insurance advice and solutions to clients of fee-only financial advisors. Founded in 2005, the firm serves advisors and their clients throughout the United States.
The principal of NextGen is John Sherman. John and the professionals at NextGen are experts in the areas of life insurance, disability insurance, and long-term care insurance.
John Sherman
President
John has over thirty years of experience in the financial services industry. He has held leadership roles with several of the country’s leading financial service organizations, including T. Rowe Price, Bank of America, and most recently, MetLife. Prior to joining—and then acquiring NextGen—John was an officer at MetLife, responsible for a large portion of the company’s long-term care insurance business. He is considered a national expert in long-term care planning.
Throughout his career, John has spoken before many organizations such as the New York Society of Actuaries and the International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists. He has also appeared as an industry expert in publications such as The National Underwriter and Bloomberg News. John has also written and published many continuing education courses in the insurance industry in the areas of life, disability, and long-term care insurance.
John is a graduate of the University of Richmond and holds a B.A. in Economics and Political Science. He and his wife, Patty, are the parents of four sons and they live in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Steve Berger
Regional Vice President
Steve has over 35 years of insurance industry experience, having held leadership positions with companies such as Cigna, Guardian, and the Standard Insurance Company. Most recently, Steve was a Regional Director for the Guardian Life Insurance Company. He has extensive experience in NextGen’s core product areas of life and disability insurance.
Steve has been highly recognized during his career for his contributions to employee and customer satisfaction. He has participated in numerous advisory roles, providing advice and counsel to executive level leaders in the companies he has served.
A native of Cincinnati, Steve holds a B.A. in Finance and Marketing from the University of Cincinnati.
He has 3 children, all of whom attend or attended Miami University. Steve also volunteers a lot of his time at organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Ronald McDonald House, and Matthew 25: Ministries.
